Don Akins died June 9, 2016

Don Akins, who was inducted into the College of Law Practice Management in 1994, passed away unexpectedly June 9, 2016. He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and the greater legal community.

Don started his career in the savings and loan industry and began consulting in the legal industry in 1979 with Hildebrandt International, working in the US and Canada. As a partner/owner he helped grow the company until its purchase by Thompson/Reuters. As one of a small group of pioneers who built the law firm consulting industry, Don's work with law firms and lawyers spanned more than 40 years.

Don was selected as a Fellow in recognition of his outstanding contributions and sustained commitment to the highest standards of professionalism in law practice management. He was also a past president of the Association of Legal Administrators.

Since retiring, he was a senior advisor to The LawVision Group's clientele, where he focused his efforts on serving as a trusted advisor to law firm leaders, including Managing Partners and members of the Executive Leadership teams. Don also continued to serve as a mentor and invaluable resource to the consultants in the company.

Don will be missed, but his spirit and energy will live on throughout the legal industry.
