Events 

* 31st annual Jack Daniel's World Championship International Barbecue -- October 26 in Lynchburg. There will be live music, barbecue cooking competitions, games (butt bowling, bung toss and a country dog contest) and a lot of sampling. 

* Pumpkinfest -- The Heritage Foundation's 36th annual Pumpkinfest celebrates fall and Halloween on October 26 along Main Street in downtown Franklin, with kids' activities, putt-putt golf, pet and kids costume contests, pumpkin carving, music and food. This festival attracts more than 65,000 people. 

* Ghost Story Festival is a long standing tradition at the Tennessee State Museum. The festival is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. October 26. There will be a costume contest, crafts, scary stories and games. This popular event always includes a ghost trail and Tennessee characters such as the Bell Witch, Cherokee Spirit Spearfinger and John Murrell's thumb.

* Ryman Auditorium (116 5th Ave. N.; 615.889-3060) -- best known as the home of the Grand Ole Opry. Tours are available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily; adult tour prices start at $24.95. Want to see a show? Opry Country Classics, hosted by Larry Gatlin (artists TBD), is available October 24 at 7 p.m. Show tickets start at $50. 

* Country Music Hall of Fame (222 5th Ave. S.; 615.416.2001 -- The museum, referred to as the "Smithsonian of country music," is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ticket prices vary and start at $25.95 for adults. 

* RCA Studio B (1611 Roy Acuff Pl; 615.416.2011) -- Built in 1956 and known then as RCA Studios, this international recording center is an analog "temple of sound." This venue has been the home of numerous music titans and innovations in music practices. Tour access is limited and departs only from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum (hourly between 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.) daily. Cost for adults is $40.95 and covers museum admission and transportation and admittance to the Studio B tour. 

* The Parthenon (2500 West End Ave.; 615.862.8431) -- The full-scale replica of the Parthenon and 42-foot Athena statue are the pinnacle of classical architecture. Operating hours are 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 12:30 p.m-4:30 Sunday (closed on Monday). Tickets for adults are $6.00,

* Fontanel (5225 Whites Creek Pike; 615.724.1600) -- The Mansion was once the home of Barbara Mandrell, one of country music's megastars. In addition to The Mansion, attractions include the amphitheater, winery, distillery, ziplines, trails & more. (The Mansion is currently available for private event bookings only, but watch Fontanel's website updates.)

* The Hermitage (4580 Rachel's Lane; 615.889.2941) -- This historical plantation was owned by Andrew Jackson who was the 7th President of the United States. He was known as the People's President. Visit the mansion, tomb and gardens. Hours beginning October 16 are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Multiple tour and itinerary options are available, with prices starting at $22 for adults. 

* Cheekwood Estates and Gardens (1200 Forrest Park Dr.; 615.356.8000) -- When you visit this Georgian mansion (now the Museum of Art) and 55-acre botanical garden, you will leave feeling restored and rejuvenated. Tours are available 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed Monday; beginning November 1, Cheekwood closes at 4 p.m.). Ticket price is $20 for adults. Parking is $5. 

* Belle Meade Plantation (5025 Harding Pike; 615.356.0501) -- Visit this Greek Revival Mansion and find the original cabin, a slave cabin and massive carriage house and stables built in 1892. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Adult tickets are $24. Also available are the Journey to Jubilee and Bourbon at Belle Meade tour options; adult tickets start at $24 and $60, respectively.

* Topgolf (500 Cowan St.; 615.777.3007) -- This venue believes "every great time starts with play, is fueled by food and drinks, moved by music and all made possible through community." They've blended technology and entertainment to make socializing a sport. Variable hours and  pricing.
